Coasteering off rocks Croyde north devon

Coasteering at Croyde, North Devon

Coasteering is a relatively new adventure activity, and it is all about getting wet by swimming, jumping, and scrambling round rocks. It is THE BEST WAY to experience the amazing natural coastline we have in the UK.

Coasteering is a blend of scrambling, rock climbing, swimming and cliff jumping with an added injection of adrenalin which will get the blood pumping.

You require very little equipment, no need for ropes or harnesses, just good quality safety wear, meaning that you can move and explore with ease, giving you the opportunity to negotiate the sea cliffs, explore caves and jump in with ease. Coasteering is the UK's fastest growing adventure sport.

Our Coasteering sessions take place at Croyde Bay, North Devon and Newquay. These are two of the UKs best spots for Coasteering due to the variation in jumps, waves, caves and whirl pools. All of our jumps are optional ranging from 1ft to 30ft, condition dependant.

You might be wondering what do I need to bring for Coasteering? The answer is just some trainers to get wet, swimwear, towel and bucket load of energy.

About Safety

Coasteering is an adrenaline filled activity, but this does not mean you have to throw yourself of everything for no regard to your safety! Safety is the single most important part of coasteering. Here at Xtreme Coasteering the safety starts from the moment we first meet you. We will take the time to brief you about what you are about to experience, and alongside the information we gain from the participation forms we will be able to assess your fitness and ensure we take out on a route that it is just right for you and your group. You will be kitted up in good fitting 5mm winter wetsuits, to keep you nice and warm, as well as safety tested buoyancy aid, and helmet.

Coasteering FAQ's

What times of the year can we go coasteering?

We can offer coasteering all year round if you really want, however we do recommend that the best time to come is between March and October.

Can anyone do coasteering?

In one word yes! Anyone ages 8 and above can do coasteering. You will require a basic level of fitness and swimming for our water based activities (we can provide private sessions for weak or non swimmers). We will have medical forms for you to complete prior to the session and you can talk to us on the day if you have any concerns.

What equipment do you supply?

We will kit you out in full 5mm winter wetsuit, buoyancy aid, and helmet. You can bring your own wetsuit if you wish, however it will need to be a full suit and the guides on the day will need to check it out to make sure it keeps you nice and warm.

Where do you run your coasteering sessions from?

Our primary location for coasteering is at Baggy Point, Croyde. Croyde is recognised as one of the best coasteering locations, not just in North Devon, but in the whole of the UK.

What is the age restriction?

We can take everyone from 8 upwards. However, we do like a parent of the young ones to join in, go on you know you want to!

Are your coasteering sessions Extreme?

Our sessions are suitable for all abilities and safety is made paramount throughout.

What do we need to bring? Where do we meet?

For water based activities you will need to bring swimwear, a towel and footwear you are prepared to get wet (no flip flops or crocs). For climbing sessions please bring warm clothes, a raincoat and trainers.

Your session location will be given on your booking confirmation, during the summer traffic can be heavy so please leave plenty of time!
